About this product

For vehicles that do not have a valid registration number or a valid Dutch MOT inspection (APK), you can use the Austrian export license plate, also referred to as the Austrian transit plate. This temporary registration includes temporary third-party liability insurance and is intended for vehicles being exported and driven by road to the destination country.

Please note: applications are only possible for companies.

This registration is intended solely for a trip from point A to point B, to or from Austria. Registration in another country is not possible with this plate; the original vehicle documents are required for that purpose.

A valid MOT inspection (APK) is not required for the issuance of this registration. Responsibility for the vehicle’s safety and technical condition during the journey always lies with the buyer/driver.

Required Documents for Your Application

Your application can only be processed if the following documents are included. We only accept clear, legible PDF scans:

• Copy of the sales invoice

• Copy of the registration document (for used vehicles)

• Certificate of Conformity (CoC) (for new vehicles)

• Power of attorney signed by the buyer

• Requested start date of the insurance (valid for 21 days)

Please note: the registration is issued based on the chassis number provided by the applicant. As a result, it is not possible to cancel or return an order once it has been submitted.

Order Information

• The Austrian temporary registration can only be requested for trucks, buses, and trailers/semi-trailers of European origin.

• The sales invoice must be addressed to a company; registration in the name of a private individual is not possible. An EORI number may also be requested if necessary.

• The start date of the registration and insurance (21 days) is by default the date of the order, unless otherwise specified.

• Orders placed before 12:00 PM will be processed the same business day.

• The license plates and insurance policy will be shipped that same day to the specified address.

• Vinacles cannot be held liable for delays or errors caused by courier services.

Regulations and Use

• For vehicles of Dutch origin, the Dutch transit registration may be a possible alternative.

• The registration may only be used for journeys to or from Austria, via a logical and reasonably shortest route.

• This temporary registration is not registered in EUCARIS, which may result in additional checks in certain countries. We therefore always advise keeping the vehicle’s original registration certificate available during transport.

• Incorrect or unauthorized use may lead to measures by local authorities. Vinacles does not provide legal assistance in such situations.

Important Information for Dutch Drivers

For residents of the Netherlands, driving a vehicle with a foreign registration plate within the Netherlands is not automatically permitted. We therefore advise applying in advance for a “Temporary exemption for BPM and motor vehicle tax (MRB) for short-term use” from the Dutch Tax Administration. The form can be found here.
